Your Green Home – Keeping Up To Date

The innovations in green and efficient home design are really taking off on a whole level we’ve never even come close to seeing before.  Now don’t get me wrong – I’m all about living as green as possible mostly because I find it fun and challenging – but a couple of years ago when the term “green” began to take on widespread usage, I figured we were just going to race through another fad.

I’m happy to report that my prediction was totally wrong.  In fact, it looks like the green movement is here to stay.  Allow me to share a few green thoughts with you today…

Get Big Tax Incentives for Green Improvements.

Yes, in case you’ve never noticed, Uncle Sam has been giving a $500 tax credit to help encourage us to go green or at least make more energy efficient purchases.  For example, many projects including efficient windows, better insulation, and energy saving water heaters and furnaces have been included on the tax credit deal.  Unfortunately, the time for making purchases that will allow the credit is nearing an end, running out December, 31, 2007.  Act now to get in on the savings.

Getting Ready To Decorate for the Winter Holidays?

Check out these energy efficient LED Christmas lights.  This solution is just right on so many levels.  Beyond a simple 90% savings in energy used, they look to be way more durable too – this translates the fact that you won’t need to replace your lights every year after installing them only find that they just won’t work again.  Yes, these LED lights are significantly more expensive, but the cost could end up being well worth it in the long run.

Go Green, Step By Step With These Energy Efficient Tips.

I recently ran across this blog post featuring 8 tips to creating an energy efficient home.  Sure, it’s geared towards the UK market, but the green language it speaks is universal.  I would consider this almost an essential checklist of the basic steps towards creating an energy efficient home – nothing too extravagant or complicated, just good practical methods.
