Scary Real Estate Situations to Avoid as a Homebuyer

Yep, it’s that spooky, haunted time of year again – Halloween!  As all the little monsters go door to door trick or treating, it’s also a great time to remember there can be some pretty terrorizing stories in real estate too.  Here are a few scary situations you’ll certainly want to avoid…

Haunted Houses – Whether or not you believe in ghosts is up to you, but it would be impossible to dismiss the fact that some people have definitely had some strange ghostly experiences with their homes.  Better safe than sorry.  As for me, I’d rather avoid haunted real estate.  I guess I’m lucky that the most haunting experience I’ve ever had in my home is the T.V. mysteriously turning off once – probably not exactly the most otherworldly phenomenon.  On a more serious note, if you’re getting ready to buy, keep an eye out for spooky looking details like sketchy wiring or not exactly up to code workmanship.

Shadowy Figures – Of course, if you’re seeing shadow people, you probably need way more help than I’m possibly capable of offering.  But I can seriously advise you to avoid real estate agents and loan brokers that give you that uneasy feeling.  If something seems like it’s not quite right about the deal or just their attitude, best to move on now before trouble happens later!

Creepy Crawlers – I’m not a big fan of the idea of sharing my home with critters, whether they be mice, spiders, or the dreaded termites.  Infestations are not a good thing – a deal real deal breaker for sure, especially termites.  Also be on the lookout for furry tailed monsters more commonly know as squirrels.  The cute little tree rats are entirely capable of causing serious damage if they’re around.  They like to gnaw through your electric wires and pretty much anything else that strikes their fancy.

So as this Halloween is here and gone before you know it, be sure to stay away from these scary situations all year long!
