Real Estate Pros: Start Blogging Now!

Now that the notion of blogging is widely accepted as being necessary for those in the real estate field, there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t be a part of the blog revolution too.

In fact, it’s easier than you might ever imagine.  While you might not exactly end up to be the next internet rock star, you might just connect with the right customers to create a few extra conversions this year – making it all worth the while!

Here are a few ideas to consider as you get started with your new real estate blog:

Chitter Chatter

The key to writing successfully for most blog formats is crafting easy to read, but still informative content.  Many internet writers simply suggest typing just as if you were having a conversation with a friend.  Picture your friend as if you were talking to them and just let the words flow.  Of course, it helps if you’ve established the topic first; otherwise meaningless rambling is likely to ensue.

Another suggestion is to emulate the writing style of a favorite industry magazine.  Most popular magazines are written in a lighter and friendlier style than… say an Ernest Hemmingway novel.  Keep your blog chatty and lighthearted.

Friendly Formatting

Staying with the friendly and conversational style of writing, it’s generally wise to throw traditional formatting premonitions right out the window.  After all, you’re writing to target friends and customers, not to ace that essay assignment in college.

As it is harder to read from a computer screen than it is from paper, help the reader with their reading endeavors by using plenty of white space – let it breathe!  Also typical of the blog format is to break up the page with plenty of headings and titles to help direct the eye to exactly where it should go.

Mobile Madness

Going mobile with your real estate blog is only a natural extension of good real estate marketing practices in the first place.  In this scenario, why not supplement your blog with spontaneous on-the-go postings?  You can easily set up your camera phone to post pictures straight to your blog, just read the help files at the blog for the how to details.

It does take a bit of creativity to best decide on what content would work, but think about the “little things” that only you seem to repetitively notice as you go about your day to day business.  These daily oddities might be just the glue you need to attract more readership.
