Real Estate Bloggers – Keep it Local, Keep it Real

That’s right, real estate bloggers.  You have a chance to keep your local real estate market real, informed, and up to date by making a commitment to being local.  To prove my point, I might assert that there are plethora of nationally targeted real estate blogs that are considered authorities on their niche, but how many local real estate blogs can you think of for your own geographic locale that dominate for the area?

Be your friendly neighborhood blogger.  That’s right, if you can’t think of more than a handful of local real estate blogs and you know a thing or two about your local market, then you’re practically a shoe in for the opportunity.  The same holds true if you’re confident that you can out blog the other competitors in the market.

You can be the go to person.
The local market expert, if you will.  The best part is that you can pick exactly how to custom tailor your area of local real estate expertise.  One idea might be to assume sort of the role of community social planner for real estate marketing happenings.  Why not help your market by centralizing and organizing upcoming real estate happenings – sort of a community calendar?  Once the word is out, people will keep coming back to you to find out what’s coming up.

Blog locally to network.  It’s a great way to keep in touch with other experts in your marketplace.  Bloggers who all cover the same general topic have an unusual way of being friends rather than just competitors.  It’s a strange phenomenon that’s only part of the camaraderie of blogging, but the connections you make might just be enough to put you ahead of the pack for your local market.

Local is just more fun.  It’s not only easier to write about things you know the most, such as your local community, but it’s also more fun.  As a local blogger, you’re free to cover your area’s history, unique events, local political issues, or whatever else is on your mind.  Naturally, it would be advisable to share your spin on the real estate market, but your niche as a local blogger can certainly have some degree of flexibility.

There’s not much debate that going local is still the next big wave of the internet.  Blogging continues to be a large part of the overall web environment and fits right in to the trend.  Be a part of the local blogging wave by being proud to be local!
