Real Estate Agents: Why No Blog?
Let’s do some role playing here. Say you’re a real estate agent. I’m a web-wise potential client who’s just about to let you handle the sale of my home.
I just have one quick question though…
I ask, “What’s the address of your blog so I can review your online promotion tactics?”
You stumble for a moment and then answer, “Well… I don’t exactly have a blog yet.”
Does this scenario sound familiar?
If I were then to ask you why you don’t have a blog yet, how would you answer?
Chances are, your reply would have something to do with the fact that you’re not a professional writer and wouldn’t even know where to start. The Real Estate Tomato™ recently nailed the roadblocks of real estate blogging right on the head with their insightful post entitled “What Is The Biggest Barrier To Real Estate Blogging.”
A quick summary goes something like this – Most potential real estate bloggers have thought about blogging, but have come to the conclusion that they can’t because they don’t have a clue what to write about.
Of course, my take parallels The Tomato’s. “I can’t” is not a valid answer. Never say never. You can.
Blogging, especially for real estate agents, is easier than you might think. After setting up a simple and free blog by literally just filling in a few blanks at Blogger.com or WordPress.com, you’re all set to go. The hardest part is already done.
Now, you just log in and share your thoughts. Everybody has a unique take or opinion.
What did you discuss at the water fountain this morning? Pretend you’re just talking to a friend or a coworker and start typing. Type as you’d talk. Share your real estate story or perhaps just your thoughts on the market.
Have a new listing? Describe it to the best of your ability. Why would it be a good fit for your potential reader? Talk to them as you type. No need to get technical, you can link to the listing’s MLS page for that.
Post photos of your listings. Not the little fuzzy cell phone photos, but quality photos that give an excellent impression of a property’s very best features. Two clicks and the photos are posted on the blog. It really is that easy.
So there you have it. Writing for your real estate blog is not as hard as you might think. Start now and you’ll have a blog up and running within the hour.
Good luck and have fun with your very own real estate blog!
