Google Presentations – A Tool You Can Use
All too often, we get caught up in our normal (and sometimes even mundane) day to day activities and completely ignore the fact that the world is rapidly changing around us. Ever have this feeling?
In the real estate world, things tend to move fast enough as it is, but looking at the tech side of the business and the related internet apps especially – well, it’s just a lightning fast streak that’s so hard to keep up with. Most of the online tools for real estate seem to come and go from one fad to the next with only a handful actually sticking every now and then. Fortunately, this at least this allows us to stand back and assess which are really worth adopting.
Well I have a new one for you that’s worth your while. You may have already read a bit about it – but if not, I’m positive you’ll be hearing much more in the very near future. The new Google Presentations app was introduced rather quietly just a few days ago as part of the internet behemoth’s ever popular and free Google Docs suite.
The potential for this new tool is really awesome for helping real estate agents and others in related business connect and collaborate on several different levels. Granted, as it stands now, it’s has a ways to go for really working in a complimentary fashion with Google’s other real estate friendly and rapidly expanding Google Base platform, let’s say as a way to integrate interactive home tours right into listings. But I can see that happening in the long run.
Even at face value, it’s still innovative. I’m sure you’ll be able to think of at least a handful of ways it might help you connect and collaborate with clients and customers after taking a bit of time to review just what it’s all about. Jeff Turner at the Real Estate Shows Blog has done a fantastic job explaining the potential. Regarding collaboration, he says:
In this case, making a presentation application collaborative has some real advantages. A team working on a listing presentation could all be working on the same presentation at the same time to generate a better document faster. I can see this being a tremendous benefit to a real estate office.
I’ll agree with Jeff completely. The immediate benefits are tremendous. But the potential is even better indeed.
Take a spin for yourself. It might be just the thing you’ve been waiting for to increase your effectiveness and productivity. And it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a leader of the pack instead of a passing fad – After all, Google usually has a big plan for its offerings.
