Effective Podcasts for Real Estate Agents – Part 2

The best part about creating a real estate audio Podcast is the flexibility.  You can detail the listings you represent, you can describe the overall market conditions, you can share valuable selling tips – in fact, you can do pretty much whatever you want and whatever your audience wants to hear.  It’s your show after all!

In Part 1 of our Effective Podcasts for Real Estate Agents feature, we covered the basics of Podcasting and why it’s effective in the real estate market.  Now, let’s take a look at actual Podcast strategies worth considering and a few real estate Podcast examples.

Worthwhile Strategies to Consider

Combine.  Pair up a Podcast with a blog and have posts that correspond with the Podcast time wise.  For example, a property discussed in “Minute 2” would have a “Minute 2” title in the blog post and perhaps show pictures of that property or other details.  This time mapped format would make it super easy for listeners in front of a computer to follow along or for the on the go audience to have an easy to remember reference point to key up later.

Partner.  Work a deal with a local talk radio station.  Offer to host a weekly call in show on real estate in your area at no cost to the station.  As your compensation, you’ll be able to Podcast the production as your own.  This is the best of both worlds – you get radio exposure while still maximizing your opportunity through Podcasting.  Plus, you’ll get to use all of the station’s studio equipment to create an extremely professional quality show.

Build a team.  Group with other experts to create a team of Podcasters for your show.  Include a real estate agent/broker, a mortgage agent, or whatever combination works well for your target audience.  Be sure to set up a phone number or email address to field questions from listeners.  While your Podcast won’t be live in real time, you can still answer all of the questions you’ve received during the week on the show.

Check Out a Few of These Examples

Consider the best aspects and use these highlights to inspire your own production.  There’s no reason you can’t adapt the concept of some of the national level real estate Podcasts for your locality’s needs.  When listening, your audience wants real information.  After all, that’s why we listen to talk format radio, isn’t it?  You get to decide how to deliver.

So remember, some parts might be cheesy, over hyped, or under produced for your taste, but in that case, just walk away with a lesson on what not to do on your own Podcast.

The Virginia Beach Real Estate Podcast

  • Keeps it local.
  • Good concept with the interview format.
  • Overproduced – not very natural.
  • Example of a “cookie cutter” Podcast creation service.

The Real Estate Riches Radio Show

  • Good example of broadcast radio show recycled as Podcast.
  • Professionally produced.
  • Uses team concept.
  • Focuses on real estate investment as its niche.

Real Estate Radio

  • Covers a local area while touching on national issues too.
  • Interview style show.
  • Works in advertising opportunities nicely.

John Pinto – Real Estate Broker

  • Concise and to the point.
  • Quickly updates listener on the local market scene.
  • Simple to produce.

Jackson Fuller Real Estate Team Podcast

  • Audio quality could be improved.
  • Market update for the region is a good feature.
  • Maybe a bit too sterile for average consumer listener.

Granted, you’ll still need to promote your Podcast locally for it to even gather listeners in the first place.  Why not try a few cutting-edge guerilla marketing style tactics to get the word out?  A big budget isn’t necessary, just the will power and effort put forth to make it happen.

Good luck with your real estate Podcast!
