Brokers & Agents: It’s All About the Card
It is definitely all about the card… The business card that is.
Okay, maybe it’s not completely about the card, but having the perfect business card designed and printed for you and your trade is worth every possible bit of time and expense.
How many cards do you hand out on a daily basis? Most in the biz are walking, talking networking machines and the business card shouldn’t be viewed simply as a calling card, but rather an intriguing mini-billboard sharing an impossible to forget message.
What does your business card say about you? Hopefully, it’s not one of the following messages:
- I’m too cheap to pay for professionally printed cards, so I printed this myself at home.
- I’m just like everyone else at my brokerage.
- I picked this card straight out of a catalogue, generic graphics and all.
- I don’t think with a creative mindset at all.
I know what you’re thinking – “but these were the cards they gave me.” Or maybe, “I’m in the real estate business, I need to convey a more professional look.”
It is important to focus on staying professional, but that doesn’t mean you should stick with the status quo by any means. Use the opportunity to prove you’re different and that you know how to think outside the box.
The message will convey – after all, you’re in the business of being out there, but you’re also in the business of solving problems for customers, whether it be quickly selling the house that’s been sitting on the market poorly represented for the last few months or helping your client score the perfect financing package to get them into their dream home.
The topic of unique business cards is a hot item these days, as both graphic design services and printing prices are readily available to all through the web. Real estate’s favorite BloodhoundBlog has certainly taken notice of the trend with a series of recent business card themed posts – just see here, here, here, and here.
However, if you’re really looking for inspiration, take some time and scroll through Flickr’s photos of business cards. You’ll see the truly phenomenal, the pretty good, the really horrible, and every variation of card between, but it’s worth it. Another resource worth checking out is Moo, which specializes in great cards.
So, waste no more time. Take action and get noticed!
