Bloggers – When It Gets Tough, Get Going
I know this might all seem like a bit of a stretch away from the real estate and mortgage business, but for all of the bloggers in the field out there, especially newbies or those just beginning to take their reputation and visibility to the next level by reaching out via the blog platform, it can be tough to keep plugging along. Distractions like Google’s latest PageRank changes (which don’t really matter anyway) or simple writer’s block can really be discouraging for bloggers.
To Keep Moving Is the Key.
If you’ve been discouraged as a blogger by lack of results or whatever the trouble may be but eventually rebounded, I think you’d probably agree with me when I say it’s so important to just keep moving. Write something everyday even if it’s not your very best A-level material. I know this sounds silly, but many times with some editing, this daily rambling can morph into your best postings. Write and then edit. Watch the discouragement fade away almost instantly.
Stay As Clean As Possible.
Sure, blogging does allow for some degree of writer’s freedom. Taking liberties with structure and grammar here and there is almost a little bit of what makes blogging so friendly and readable in the first place. But at the same time, going too far can actually be a huge turnoff for readers. For the real estate and mortgage markets in particular, the reader does expect a certain degree of professionalism from the blogger. Start by making sure you’re staying on top of punctuation and other common writing mistakes. Being professional will boost your confidence as a writer.
Be Inspired By Others.
If you don’t see any reason to keep on blogging, maybe it’s time to look for external inspiration and ideas for posts. If you’re anything like me, a quick five minute round of visits to my favorite blogs gets my mind racing full of ideas in no time at all. Or maybe it’s a challenge that you need. If that sounds like the case, challenge yourself to improve your blog and get noticed. I also suggest you start a little imaginary competition with the best blog in your niche. No need to tell them, but try and outgrow the blog in both popularity and quality as fast as possible.
Whatever roadblocks lie ahead, you can beat them by simply going right through them and continuing to plow forward with your blog. It works.
